Within a breed, egg color will, for the most part, be the same. The exception to this is in hybrid breeds or those such as Easter Eggers, where individual hens in a flock can each lay different colored eggs. It’s important to note that each chicken can only lay one color egg.
Why do chickens lay eggs of different colors?Chicken eggs from various chicken breeds emerge in different shades because of pigments which are deposited as the eggs move through the hen's oviduct. The pigment depositions are determined by the chicken's genetics , with some breeds producing rich dark brown eggs, for example, while others lay snow white eggs.
