Nov 14, 2016 · Answers. Eliquis (apixaban) is an oral anticoagulant approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the reduction in the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. If Eliquis and aspirin are taken together there is an increased risk of bleeding because aspirin is also an anticoagulant. Some patients are prescribed both medicines together but not always.
