Sep 24, 2013 · timetripper. "Detectives Special" is a Colt snub nose revolver. As Ed points out, the model 60 is essentially a stainless version of the Chiefs Special. It was the first stainlss steel production revolver made and was introduced in 1965. The "no dash" models were made from 1965 to 1972. R prefix serial numbered guns began in 1969.
