Some side effects of naltrexone may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects.
Does naltrexone make you tired?Naltrexone is not supposed to make you feel sleepy. If you are feeling drowsier than usual because of this drug, make sure your caregiver knows about it. Tell them if you are feeling tired all of the time, or if you sleep a lot more than usual.
Does naltrexone cause erectile dysfunction? The commonly reported dysfunctions were premature ejaculation (83% in buprenorphine and 87% in naltrexone), erectile dysfunction (43% in buprenorphine and 67% in naltrexone), and loss/reduction in sexual desire (33% in buprenorphine and 47% in naltrexone). On BMSFI however, there were no significant differences among both the groups.
Does naltrexone help with anxiety?Naltrexone use by itself is not associated with decreased anxiety, generally. However, unrelated factors, such as decreased alcohol or drug use, may help improve anxiety. Getting help for a drug or alcohol problem can also connect people with resources to help address contributors to anxiety.
