Public adjusters in the State of New York are licensed by the Department of Financial Services. Pursuant to N.Y. ISC. LAW § 2108, an applicant must pass a written examination, prove his or her experience as an adjuster or submit a certificate of prelicensing education, and provide a New York public adjuster bond. The surety bond must be issued in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1,000) and be valid until December 31st, of the corresponding two year license term.
