What were Athens religious beliefs?
Continuity in religion is the norm, but some particularly Greek concepts promoted this continuity at Athens and elsewhere in the ancient Greek world. First is the fundamental Greek belief that, in religious matters, one should act κατὰ τὰ πάτρια("in the ancestral way"). This belief, found in the earliest to the latest Greek prose and poetry, naturally led to religious conservatism of a high degree.
