How is the province responding to avian influenza?The Province is working with the federal government and other agencies to monitor and respond to the situation. Avian influenza poses little risk to people, but the virus is highly infectious and potentially deadly in wild and domestic birds.
Who was notified of a human case of avian influenza?WHO was notified of a human case of avian influenza A (H5) in Colorado State in the United States of America on 29 April 2022. The case was involved in culling of poultry at a farm where influenza A (H5N1) virus was confirmed in the poultry.
Does your bird have H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza?The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has advised the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) of the confirmed presence of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Canada.
