WEBThe first name is the common name, in which you put the names of the alkyl groups before the word ether. You form the name of an alkyl group by replacing the ending -ane of the alkane with the ending –yl, so cyclohexane forma a cyclohexyl group. The name of the compound becomes cyclohexyl propyl ether.
